Setting up MyService login

When moving to a new home, first thing you should do is set up a MyService account on the City of Ottawa website. It is an online account that allows Ottawa residents to securely access multiple City services and information in one place. From there you can view the garbage collection calendar, pay your property tax and water & sewer and much more.

Visit www.ottawa.ca, scroll down until you see garbage collection and from here, you can find out:

  • How often garbage is collected
  • How many bags, items or cans can be put out
  • When and where to put your garbage
  • How to package your garbage
  • Examples of acceptable and unacceptable containers
  • Disposing of bulky items

You can sign up for collection reminders that will be sent to you by email, phone or Twitter. You can also download the Ottawa Collection Calendar mobile app for Apple and Android devices to confirm your collection day. Once you move in to your new home, you can request receving a brand new green, blue and black bin.
